Chris Lodge Artist Information

Artist
Chris Lodge is a bird artist currently based in East Anglia, UK. He has previously lived at various locations throughout Britain and for two years in Massachusetts USA.
He has travelled widely in recent years but his current bird paintings are of species observed in Essex and Suffolk, UK. where he is now living and painting. Chris is currently gaining much inspiration from the estuaries and marshes of the East Anglian coast and is working on a series of new oil paintings featuring ducks, waders, terns and gulls.

Technique
Chris Lodge's forthcoming new bird paintings, are to be his first using oil paints. With this new medium, Chris is continuing to paint in a realistic style, but is creating bird paintings that are looser and more flowing in style, achieving a slightly softer looking appearance compared to his earlier works painted using acrylics. His paintings continue to capture the essential details that communicate the character of the bird, whilst also defining the subtle nuances of light, that evoke the spirit of the moment it was seen.

Exhibitions
Having successfully exhibited again at the British Birdwatching Fair in August 2008, for his fourth consecutive year, Chris is taking a break in 2009 whilst he builds his portfolio of new work in oils. He plans to return to display his new paintings at the Birdfair in 2010.
A selection of his work continues to be displayed at The Birdscapes Gallery in Norfolk.

His original bird paintings are hung in private collections throughout the UK, Europe and the United States.
